Survey
To validate our thoughts of going for an ARG, and if people had a general understanding of AI, was right we made a survey people could fill in. We all got the link and sent it to a few people or posted it on our Instagram pages. We got a total of 38 responses in a few days.
Before making the survey in the Google forms app, we decided to think of the questions we wanted and put these all in a word file. The file can be opened by clicking here. These were the questions we really wanted to ask. Any additional questions we thought of after this were added in the Google forms survey.
Pim was the one who set up the Google forms survey and we all filled in with questions we wanted to ask and added the ones we had in the words document. But since he made the Google form itself, I cannot make screen shots of what the charts look like. What we found out from the survey is that most people know a few things about what AI is. But it was limited to the popular AI's, mainly ChatGPT. Others found it to be somewhat helpful with making homework and others thought of robots when thinking of AI.
When asked what people thought of AI. We got to the conclusion that most people are either positive or neutral about it. Only a handful of people were negative. When comparing the negative results to what they wrote in what comes to mind, the general idea would be that they are scared of robots or that AI might take over. This could be the world or just their jobs. But at the same time they were very interested in learning more about AI.
The people who were positive or neutral about AI mainly thought of it as a tool you could use when making homework for example I.E. asking ChatGPT the answer and copying that. You can see that most people who answered this also weren't really interested in learning more about AI (With a few exceptions).
We used this research in the early stage of our project to find out what type of product we wanted to make and based on these results we decided to continue the ARG idea since there were a lot of responses where if they were interested in AI they would like to learn more about it. And we thought that an ARG would be a fun way to do that.
