Career Day

On April 18, there is a career day where you can get more information about different companies where you might do your internship, but also about the different specializations you can follow within Fontys. I'm mainly going to the career day to get some more information about the ICT & Education specialization because this is the main reason I started with this education. Next to this I'm also interested in some other specializations because I'm keen to see if any of them can peak my interest.

My thoughts

During my visit I've spent a bit wandering around on the specialization grounds to hopefully learn more about them and finally make a decision on which one I'd like to follow in semester 4. I've spent about 2 hours wandering around the grounds of TQ to look at everything they provided.

I've stopped at pretty much every specialization that was available and chatted a bit with the teachers about what the semester would look like at said specialization. Most of them followed a sort of similar pattern with 2 or 3 projects. Some you could do alone, other you had to do in a group (and some of these didn't require you to stay in your own specialization, you could venture out too). The only one that didn't follow this pattern that I've heard was the Education specialization. It requires you to find an internship for semester 4 where you can put everything you've learned and display it in front of a classroom.

When it came to the business that were at TQ, I ended up not going to look at them since I wasn't really looking into finding an internship for semester 5 just yet. Although it would be nice to have it locked down already, I wanted to focus on semester 4 before looking further ahead.

And I said you needed an internship for semester 4 too when it came to education. I'm still keeping in touch with my old school and am currently trying to do my internship with them.

Conclusion

All in all, I'm quite happy that I went to the career day as it helped me finalize the decision I had to make for semester 4. As I've said before, I went to look at many specializations to maybe get another view or have my mind changed on going to education. But this wasn't the case in the end.
